Announcing the Inaugural “Sunstone Short-Film Contest”
The Sunstone Education Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce the inaugural Sunstone Short-Film Contest.
In conjunction with the 2006 Sunstone Symposium, which this year centers on the theme “Mormonism and Popular Culture,” Sunstone invites filmmakers to create and show short films on any aspect of Mormon life, thought, history, personality, or culture. Films can be serious treatments or lighthearted looks, polished works by experienced filmmakers or rough but sincere first efforts.
Details of the contest are:
- Length: Films can have a total running time of no longer than 8 minutes (excluding credits)
- Categories: Films will be judged in two categories: Fiction and Documentary
- Film Format: Films must be submitted on DVD, regardless of original shooting format
- Judging: Films will be juried by a panel of qualified judges from the LDS film community
- Prizes: $600 total prize money. $300 will be awarded in each of the two categories (to be divided among worthy entries at the discretion of the judges)
- Deadline and Submission Guidelines: Films must arrive at the Sunstone Education Foundation
offices no later than 5:00 p.m., 1 July 2006 - A submission form available at the Sunstone website, www.sunstoneonline.com, must accompany each film
- Filmmakers are welcome to submit up to THREE films per person or group
- There is NO ENTRY FEE
Selected films will be featured in sessions at the 2006 Sunstone Symposium, held 9-12 August at the
Sheraton City Centre Hotel in Salt Lake City
